    8th GRADE HONORS:  POETRY
     
    TEKS UNIT 2 Poetry 

    Student Expectation - 8.4A: Compare and contrast the relationship between the purpose and characteristics of different poetic forms (e.g., epic poetry, lyric poetry).

    Student Expectation - 8.8A: Explain the effect of similes and extended metaphors in literary text.

    Student Expectation - 8.15B: Poetry Writing

    Activities:
    *Poetry Packet-Analyzing five poems for meaning, form, style, literary devices and graphic elements
    *Writing Poetry- Write a poem based on the theme and form you selected. Final Draft due Thursday.
    *Poetry Quiz- Study the poetry terms & forms for a 20 question quiz on Thursday
    *POPCORN POETRY DAY- Be ready to present your poem Friday! Please bring popcorn to share.
     
     
    7th GRADE HONORS: Fiction

    7th Grade TEKS: From the text- A Wrinkle in Time:

    Student Expectation - 7.Fig19D: Make complex inferences about text and use textual evidence to support understanding.

    Student Expectation - 7.Fig19E: Summarize, paraphrase, and synthesize texts in ways that maintain meaning and logical order within a text and across texts.

    Student Expectation - 7.3A: Describe multiple themes in a work of fiction.

    Student Expectation - 7.3C: Analyze how place and time influence the theme or message of a literary work.

    Expectation - 7.6C: Analyze different forms of point of view, including first-person, third-person omniscient, and third-person limited.
