Welcome from Mr. Conaway and the Sunnyvale Raider Pride Bands
It is such a joy to be teaching in Sunnyvale ISD. I have taught for 22 years in the metro area and have enjoyed teaching kids in both middle school and high school settings. My wife (Christie) and I live in historic downtown Forney, however our two sons, Grant and Preston are proud "Raiders" and attend 8th grade in Sunnyvale. We are truly blessed to be in this area and look forward to teaching the joy of music to your child. Go Raider Bands!!
Important Upcoming Events, Assignments or Project:What a great run the Sunnyvale Raider Pride Marching Band had at the 2017 UIL Area B Marching Contest on Saturday, Oct. 28th @ Collins Stadium, Denton TX. The SRPMB had to dig our heals in due to the icy prelim start, and also drew a tough first spot in finals. However Raider Pride came with another incredible showing finishing strong in 7th place in Area B Finals. While we know that our goal of making it to the top four state bound spots was not reached, we are proud of the fact of being in UIL Area B Finals for the 3rd consecutive time, being the only Region 3 3A Band in Finals, and hanging with many fantastic state finalist and state champion band programs.A big thanks to all of SISD Administration, our wonderful Band Boosters, SISD drivers, and the many folks who came out to cheer us on. GOOD TIMES!!On June 16th through June 20th, three of our band leadership students took part in a wonderful summer leadership course at Texas A&M Commerce Summer Music Camps. Lauren Hendricks, Dominique Roquemore, and Ruby Cherian learned a great deal about how to encourage and work with peers as part of this experience. This hands on course is always a great way to show student leaders how they can be effective once their role of leadership starts for the school year. Pictured are the girls at the camp banquet, one of the fun activities with the camp. Way to show off Sunnyvale!!Several of our Sunnyvale Percussionists attended the University of North Texas Drumline Camp on June 9th through 14th. Ryan DeShazo, Jacob Clements, Dayne Ramirez and Colton Nash had a great time learning how to be a great drumline member and also meeting new kids in the process. Paul Rennick and Rob Ferguson were the camp clinicians and were amazing to watch. We are super proud of these kids for taking their summer time to learn more about their respective instruments.
