Mrs. Harvill

Hi! My name is Rae Harvill and this is my fifth year teaching in Sunnyvale ISD. I love teaching at SMS! I have have so much fun directing and teaching at the middle school level. I enjoy helping students realize their potential in the arts and just have fun!

I also assist at the high school with the OAP. I love seeing my former middle school students grow in the high school program and I love that I get to continue being a part of their theatre experience.

A little about me: I love to laugh, and I love to find the joy in everyday moments. My husband, Louis and I have been married for 8 years. He is also an educator in the metroplex. We love to travel, play board games and go to the movies. We have two cats, Dorian and Tonks; they are my fur-babies. I'm not going to lie, I love Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, and Chipotle. My weakness is Target. I am a self-proclaimed nerd, I love Harry Potter, superhero movies, Star Wars and just about anything Sci-Fi. And when I have free time (which isn't often) you will probably find me with my nose stuck in a book (or script), I love to read!!

I graduated from the University of North Texas. Go Mean Green!
I have been doing theatre since I was in middle school and throughout college. I LOVE theatre! Outside of the classroom, you can find me performing on stage, directing shows and working stage crew at various theatres around DFW. My favorite thing to do on the weekends is go to the theatre and see the amazing talent DFW has to offer.

I believe that theatre can benefit everyone no matter what their future plans. Theatre can build confidence, imagination, creativity, speaking and social skills, and problem solving. Plus, I like to show students how to connect with one another, work together and have fun! Have I mentioned that I like fun?!My passion is theatre and education, and I believe that the arts offer a significant contribution to the future of our society. Theatre gives our students the opportunity to learn what I think is one of the most valuable lessons: empathy. In this world, we need to learn to understand one another and feel for one another.  Not to mention, the fun and memories that they will cherish forever.

I am looking forward to seeing the Sunnyvale Theatre program continue to grow!
