Degrees and Certifications:

Carolyn Baker

My name is Carolyn Baker and this is my 11th year in Sunnyvale ISD. However, this is not my 11th year as a teacher. I taught for 11 years in the Irving ISD as a high school Pre-AP Biology and Human Anatomy and Physiology Teacher. I took two years off when my son was born and then taught Pre-K at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Mesquite for 2 years. I absolutely love teaching in Sunnyvale and being a Raider.

I am a native of Mesquite and I spent all of my years as a student in the Mesquite Independent School District. Upon graduation from Mesquite High School, I continued my educational experience at SMU (Go Ponies!) where I majored in English and minored in Biology. I hold a masters degree from UNT in Secondary Education with a minor in Gifted and Talented Education.

I have been happily married for 23 years to my husband, Brian and we have 2 children. Brilyn is 18 and Brantly just turned 14. Brilyn will be a sophomore at Texas A&M and Brantly will be in 8th grade this fall.

I love learning about new and exciting things and I try to instill this love of learning in all of my students. I believe that if a student loves to learn then not only will they nurture their own education, but will do so in others. I look forward to an exciting and fulfilling school year.
