• 6th Grade Classes


    Theatre, Grade  6

    This course is designed as an introduction to the many performing and technical aspects of theater. Students will focus on acting is introduced through individual and group exercises in improvisational and memorized performances. Basic theatrical knowledge of the design and tech process will also be taught. The primary objective is to develop the student’s creativity and self- expression. There is opportunity to be involved in extracurricular activities such as One Act play. The entire class is involved in a Class play in the spring. All rehearsals will take place in class.  This course will include an introduction to and development of expression, acting skills, theatre production and the application of theatrical events.

     

    Design Theatre I

    Students will focus on the design elements of theatre, such as publicity, set, costume, makeup, lights and sound design.  Students will read a variety of scripts and be a part of the design process for each production the department produces. There is opportunity to be involved in extracurricular activities such as One Act play. The entire class is involved in a Design Expo in the spring.

     

    Students will focus on vocal production, ensemble work, theatre history, theatre performance, and plot development.  Students will read a variety of scripts and apply techniques they learn to scenes, monologues, and other performances. There is opportunity to be involved in extracurricular activities such as One Act play. The entire class is involved in a Class play in the spring. All rehearsals will take place in class.


    Theatre II

    Pre-Requisite Theatre I

    Students will focus on an advanced level of vocal production, ensemble work, theatre history, theatre performance, and plot development.  Students will read a variety of scripts and apply techniques they learn to scenes, monologues, and other performances.  On an advanced level they will experience playwriting and directing. There is opportunity to be involved in extracurricular activities such as One Act play and a Class play in the spring. All rehearsals will take place in class.

    8th GRADE CLASSES


    Design Theatre II

    (Prerequisite Design Theatre I)

    Students will dive deeper and expand on their knowledge of technical aspects of theatre, such as publicity, set, costume, makeup, lights and sound design.  Students will read a variety of scripts and be a part of the design process for each production the department produces. There is opportunity to be involved in extracurricular activities such as One Act play. The entire class is involved in a Design Expo in the spring.

      

    Advanced Theatre

    (Prerequisite Theatre I and Teacher Approval Required)

    This advanced course is for eighth-grade students who have a desire to be involved with play productions and wish to strengthen their skills as actors and designers. This course is a continuation and progression of the theatre arts curriculum. There is opportunity to be involved in extracurricular activities such as One Act play. The entire class is involved in multiple productions throughout the year and a Class play in the spring. All rehearsals will take place in class.
