• COURSE INFORMATION AND EXPECTATION:

                                   2018-2019


    1) SPANISH 1:

    This course will focus on acquiring basic vocabulary and grammar structure and will adhere to the requirement of the TEKS.  The student is expected to use the learned materials to engage in  speaking, listening, reading and writing when dealing with familiar topics.  We will use the textbook Avancemos 1 in class.  The textbook will also be posted on the website.  Most assignments will be done in class.  Homework  may be assigned such as: study vocabulary words, lines for  dialogues/conversation, oral tests, online practice exercises.

    2) Grading Policy:

    Daily-                  25% (practice exercises in workbook, dialogues, "hablo como un pro" ...)
    Quiz-                   25% (vocabulary, grammar, culture reading passages)
    Test/Project-        50%(chapter tests, oral tests, projects)


    3) Classroom Rules:

    -Follow the Student Handbook concerning:   tardy, class disruption, cheating, and use of electronic devices.

    -Late work maybe accepted with teacher's approval. (new assignment maybe assigned in lieu)

    -Tutoring is available after school @ exactly 3:20 (not after you finished with tutoring from other classes)
     
    -Cell phones may be used for INSTRUCTIONAL purposes only or with teacher's approval.


    **Teacher may enforce other classroom rules as needed throughout the school year.

     
    4) Hall Passes

    Students will receive three hall passes each nine weeks. Teacher will keep track of these passes.  Incentive will be given for not using these passes.  (more details will be given on first day of class)
     
    5) CLASS SUPPLIES FOR SPANISH 1 

    -Folder & papers
    -Composition notebook.   Don't buy the one with holes and prongs)
    -writing instruments
    -headphones
    -1 box of tissue & hand sanitizer.  (please contribute, we use them daily) (you will lose your incentives if you leave to go get these things in bathroom)

    1) SPANISH 2

    This course is a continuation of Spanish 1.  It will focus on a more rigorous and challenging vocabulary as well as a more advanced grammatical structure.
    The student is expected to be actively engaged in all lessons and be an active participant during class.  We will use the textbook  Buen Viaje or Advancemos 2 in class.  The textbooks will also be posted on the website. Most assignments will be done in class.  Homework maybe assigned such as: study and review vocabulary words,( past and current), study your lines for dialogue or oral test, online practice exercises.

    2 Grading Policy:

    Daily-                  25%(practice exercises in workbook, dialogues, "hablo como un pro"...)
