Mr. Brad Cravens, President

Mr. Cravens is serving his 8th consecutive term on the SISD Board of Trustees. He has served as Board President since 2003, and was Vice President in 2002. He has organized and led numerous strategic planning committees to study long-term district needs, and contributes financial expertise to the board’s budgeting process.

In 1999, Mr. Cravens founded the Sunnyvale Education Foundation (SEF), a non-profit organization that has donated $157,000 in teaching grants to the teachers and students of Sunnyvale School. He served several years on the SEF board, including two years as President. He is a PTA member and a lifetime charter member of the Raider Pride Booster Club (RPBC).

Mr. Cravens has also served his town on the Board of Adjustments and Sunnyvale 4B. He is a church Deacon, and has served as Finance Chair, Adult Sunday School Director, and youth Sunday school teacher. He also volunteers his time to coach youth baseball, football, basketball, and soccer.

Linda currently serves as a director of TASB – representing Region 10.  During her tenure as director she has served on the Legislative Committee and as Vice Chair of the By-Laws Committee.   Previously, she was a member of the TASB Legislative Advisory Council (LAC) and also served on the Region 10 LAC, TASB School Board Advocacy Network, NSBA Federal Relations Network and NSBA Advocacy Institute.

Gooch, an assistant vice-president for Morgan Stanley, is in her eigth consecutive term on the SISD board, and currently serves as vice-president.  In addition, she has served as the board secretary.  Linda, has been honored the United States Presidential Volunteer Service award.  She received the Honorary Lone Star FFA Degree – the highest degree of honorary membership awarded by Texas FFA Association.  Locally, she served on the Town of Sunnyvale Home Rule Committee and helped draft the town’s first charter.

Gooch currently works with the SISD Alumni Association.  She has been active in the Sunnyvale Education Foundation as a board member and as its president, and has served the Sunnyvale PTA as the volunteer coordinator.  She also was a nine-year coach for one of Sunnyvale’s award-winning Destination Imagination teams.  She is also a lifetime member of the Raider Pride Booster Club.

Mr. Threet, Counsel for Haynes & Boone, LLP, is in his third term on the SISD Board of Trustees. He has served on school board committees exploring drug testing policy, high school graduation requirements, and campus and district ratings, and volunteers his legal expertise on new board policies and procedures. He served on the strategic planning committee to study long-term district needs that resulted in the creation of Sunnyvale High School. Mr. Threet supplements his board education with attendance at both TASB state and NSBA national conventions.

Mr. Threet is a lifetime charter member of the Raider Pride Booster Club, a Sunnyvale Education Foundation Board Member, and a member of the PTA. He is an active member of his church and is an ordained Deacon.

After serving Sunnyvale ISD as one of the most beloved teachers and coaches in Sunnyvale history from 1999-2015, Mr. Ben Wright continued his committment as a Raider by joining the SISD Board of Trustees in 2017. He serves as the board's representative for the Sunnyvale Education Foundation and is a member of the PTA. He has also been an active member of the Long-Term Facilities Planning Team (2017).
 
Ben graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in 1999 and holds two Masters Degrees - one in Educational Administration (2003) and one in Anatomy and Physiology (2001). Both advanced degrees are from Texas A&M University at Commerce.
 
Ben and his wife, Karen live in Sunnyvale. They have three daughters who all currently attend (or will soon attend) Sunnyvale ISD schools.

Dr. Pollye Hunter

Dr. Pollye Hunter joins the Board of Trustees as a 22-year public educator, with experience at all levels. Hunter has worked as a secondary teacher, coach and athletic administrator and has worked at both the elementary and secondary level as a school physical therapist. Hunter’s experience includes both general and special education in Crandall ISD, Mesquite ISD and at the Baylor Scott and White Institute for Rehabilitation. Currently, she holds the position of Physical Therapist in Mesquite ISD’s Special Education Department.

Her contributions to SISD and the Sunnyvale community are many. She currently serves the district as a member of the finance team and the Staff Quality and Recruitment Action Team, a break-out of the SISD Strategic Planning Team. For the past four years, Hunter has served on the 4B Board for the Town of Sunnyvale which uses sales tax revenue for economic development projects that benefit the town.  She was also a member of the “Vote Yes” steering committee, during the high school bond election campaign.

“Membership on the finance committee has allowed me to work with other community leaders to determine strategies to help us navigate through financial constraints so that we can move forward as a district,” Hunter said. “For SISD to maintain our high standards in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities and competition, it is imperative that our leaders work together to determine feasible solutions to problems associated with adequately funding our schools.”

Dr. Hunter is a valuable, long-time Sunnyvale volunteer who has stepped up for countless activities including: SRYSA coaching, Sunnyvale FBC Upward coaching, spring and summer league coaching, SISD fine arts supporter, cheer and mascot supporter, SISD PTA activities on all levels, Special Olympics volunteer.

“I love SISD and the Raider family,” Hunter said. “The teachers, administrators, and staff work hard to provide all students with great learning opportunities not only in the classroom, but in extra-curricular activities as well. I’m all for doing whatever I can to support them and help our students be successful.”

Dr. Hunter and her husband, Mike, have lived in Sunnyvale for six years. They have two daughters, Landry and Morgan.

Mr. Nick Sloan

Mr. Nick Sloan brings a wealth of experience in security and public safety to the SISD Board of Trustees. As the Director of Emergency Management for Baylor Scott &  White Health, Sloan provides strategic guidance for all Baylor Scott & White Hospitals in matters involving homeland security, emergency management, public safety, and public health.

Prior to his work for BSWH, Sloan served eight years in the Marine Corps and then worked in Corporate Security for TXU Energy providing security management, executive protection, investigations and business continuity services.  Upon graduation from the University of North Texas, Sloan worked for the City of Dallas’ Office of Emergency Management, a position which eventually lead to a position with the Dallas Fire Rescue Department where he served as Homeland Security Coordinator sharing responsibilities between Dallas Police and Dallas Fire Rescue Special Operations.  Sloan has extensive emergency response experience to include several presidentially-declared disasters such as Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Dolly, and Ike.

Sloan represents BSWH on multiple committees and boards locally, statewide, and nationally.  Locally, Sloan is currently a member of the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Emergency Preparedness Advisory Committee as well as the Dallas County, Tarrant County, and Collin County Medical Operation Centers.  Sloan also represents BSWH and the healthcare sector as a member of the SMU George W. Bush Presidential Center Security Council. Sloan is a past board member of the North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council, as well as Chair of the Regional Emergency Preparedness Committee.  At the state level, Sloan is a past member of the Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Disaster Committee, as well as the Governor’s Private Sector Advisory Council where he represented the health and medical sector. Federally, Sloan is a member of the Department of Homeland Security Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordination Council.  He also serves as Sector Chief for the FBI-Infragard Health and Medical Sector in North Texas and is a member of the Infragard national committee focusing on healthcare cyber security.

“I love the close ties of the Sunnyvale community, and the school is the focal point of our community,” Sloan said. “SISD is the place to be almost every day of the week for sports, concerts, or shows. It’s the place where my family, friends, and the community come together to love and support or children.”

Outside of his full-time employment, Sloan is an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Texas for the Emergency Management and Disaster Science Department where he teaches a course on Public Health and Disasters.  He also manages a consulting company, Spartan Consulting Group, providing his expertise to schools, churches, and other business within the critical infrastructure sector. Sloan is an outspoken advocate for veterans and volunteers his time between several non-profit organization benefiting Veterans of the Armed Forces and the first responder community.  These organizations include: Carry the Load, Adaptive Training Foundation, Sons of the Flag Burn Foundation, and 22 Kill which raises awareness and support around the 22 veterans that commit suicide every day.

Mr. Sloan and his wife, Shanda have four children: Jackson, Katy, Megan and Lauren. They have lived in Sunnyvale for five years.
