My name is Brettney Acree, and I am one of the dyslexia teachers for Sunnyvale Intermediate School. This will be my fourth year of teaching, all in the role as a dyslexia teacher. I earned my bachelor's degree from Ouachita Baptist University in 2008, and after a long hiatus from school, I decided to begin pursuing my master's degree from SMU in 2021. I will graduate with a Masters in Education with an emphasis in reading and become a Certified Academic Language Therapist in December 2023.

This year I have taken on the role of SRYSA Volleyball Director. I would love to see all of our sports reach the playoffs and go to state in every sport, and I believe that dream starts at the youth level. I was a collegiate athlete, and I am very excited to pour my passion for sports into the youth program here in Sunnyvale.

I have been married for 14 years to my amazing husband. I could not take on all that I do without his daily support and encouragement. We have 3 beautiful children together. Brylee is 10 and entering 5th grade, Beau is 9 and entering 4th grade, and Brooke is 8 and entering 2nd grade. 

I am very passionate about building confidence in children, both in the classroom and on the playing field. School and sports should both be places where kids feel safe to be themselves, and I am looking forward to getting to know my new students this year!
