The program shall:
-promote scientific literacy focusing on process skills, mastery of science content, and the interdisciplinary nature of scientific study.-provide students with opportunities to utilize 21st-century skills, specifically: critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity.
-emphasize the role of science in everyday life and shall prepare students to be problem solvers who are concerned with issues facing society and the needs of the Earth and all living things.
-develop self-directed learners who can apply prior knowledge and processes.
-successfully employ critical thinking skills by being able to analyze, evaluate, and critique scientific explanations by using evidence, logical reasoning, and experimental / observational testing.
-accomplish tasks through inquiry and laboratory investigations.
-select and use appropriate scientific tools to collect data, record information, and communicate findings.
