Hello SMS Parents & Students,

Welcome to a new school year! I'm Angela Henderson, a teacher, mother, author, ocean/nature-lover, and a 7 (with an 8 wing) on the Enneagram. After teaching English in Ohio and South Carolina, I've landed in Texas and am thrilled to journey with you. Loving who I teach and what I teach keep me coming back. I also love my "job" of being a mom of three kids: Christian (freshman), Victoria, (7th grader), and Andrew (3rd graders). Writing children's books is a creative outlet that overlaps with my professional development/enthusiasm as well. After almost a decade of working on my goal, a publisher picked up my book, Isaac's Ice Cream Tree, then my second one, Isaac & Izzy's Tree House released May 2020. One of my passions is publishing student writings, and we will be working on our grade level poetry ebook via Amazon together this year in both 7th & 8th grades! 

Although school situations may look different, my classroom theme remains the same, "The journey is ours to share." I love that our is in journey. Whether you are in my classroom or at home learning or a little of both, we are together in our learning, growing, and connection. My "4Cs" this year are creavity, curiosty, critical thinking, and compassion. All that we do in our reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking, and teamwork will tie into those four cornerstones as we work through our HMH textbooks (hardcopy & online access), novels, and such.
