November is Native American Heritage Month, a tradition that began with various states honoring Native peoples in the early 1900s and became a month-long national observance in 1990. It’s a time to learn about, honor, and celebrate the stories, cultures, and contributions of the first Americans.

November 3 is Father of Texas Day! On this date, we celebrate Stephen F. Austin, whose vision and leadership brought the first American settlers to Texas, earning him the lasting title “Father of Texas.” Across our state, his legacy lives on in names of parks, colleges and universities, our capital city, and so much more.
