Groundbreaking

Sunnyvale ISD officially broke ground on the 2024 Bond projects on Monday, October 20. The ceremony marked an exciting milestone in the district’s ongoing commitment to enhancing facilities and supporting student growth.

Mayor Saji George, Council Member Manu Danny, Interim Town Manager Bill Vegas, members of the SISD Board of Trustees, Superintendent Matt Kimball, Facilities and Finance Committee members, SISD staff, WRA Architects, Gallagher Construction, students, and community members gathered on the practice field between the fieldhouse and the softball field to celebrate the start of construction.

Following the ceremony, Superintendent Kimball shared an overview of Phase 2 projects, which include:

  • updates at Sunnyvale Intermediate School

  • construction of new transportation facilities

  • a new Culinary Arts/Professional Development and Childcare Center at the administrative complex

  • renovations at Sunnyvale Elementary School

  • Alamo renovations

Phase 1 construction will begin soon and includes several key projects:

  • CTE addition

  • Science lab renovation

  • Auxiliary Gym

  • Multipurpose Activity Center

  • Fieldhouse renovations

  • Expanded band parking

  • Additional parking areas
