Distinguished Alumnus: Chris Bugbee (SJH ‘90)

Chris Bugbee attended Sunnyvale schools from kindergarten through eighth grade. He now serves as President and CEO of OneStar Foundation, the State Service Commission for Texas. He leads statewide efforts to expand volunteerism, support nonprofits and help communities recover from disasters. Before joining OneStar in 2006, he served at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and at the White House. At the White House he helped carry out initiatives that included a prisoner reentry program and mentoring for children of prisoners.

Legacy Award: Jeriann “Jeri” Lee

For years, Jeri Lee was one of the first friendly faces people met at Sunnyvale ISD. She joined the district in the late 1970s and wore many hats. She assisted the superintendent, supported teachers, welcomed students and worked with parents, and she handled every role with kindness and care. Ms. Lee passed away in 2020 at age 81. Her family was on the field Friday night to accept the award on her behalf.
